Theme: The Future of the Entertainment Business

The overarching theme of Season 4 focuses on “The Future of the Entertainment Business.” This exploration is timely as the industry faces significant technological and social shifts. The inclusion of AI as a primary topic reflects the growing concern and curiosity regarding how automated tools will influence songwriting, production, and music rights management. By bringing in professionals like David “Click” Cox and Katrina Lopes, the podcast examines how traditional business models are being disrupted by these new technologies.

Furthermore, the series looks at the future through the lens of the African and Caribbean diaspora. This allows for a more nuanced conversation about the Canadian music landscape, acknowledging that the “Black experience” in music is not monolithic. Guests such as Dr. Jay and Alain P. Arthur provide context on how Caribbean cultures have influenced Canadian media and what the future holds for these genres on a global scale.
