Black Boys Code Canada brings a free, hands-on AI workshop to Montreal for Black boys ages 8-17. No coding experience required: just bring your curiosity and get ready to explore the world of artificial intelligence.

Event: “Discovering Artificial Intelligence” workshop

Format: In-person, hands-on learning with laptops/tablets

Two Learning Tracks:

• Beginner Track: Introduction to AI and Computer Vision using Google’s Teachable Machine. Train your own image recognition model to recognize hand gestures and facial expressions.
• Advanced Track: Chatbots and Natural Language Processing with ChatGPT. Learn prompt design and brainstorm chatbot concepts.

Students will connect AI concepts to real-world tech like face unlock features, self-driving cars, and voice assistants.

This Matters

This workshop creates a supportive environment specifically designed for Black boys to explore AI technology. Students learn what AI is, how it learns from examples, and where it’s used in everyday life: all while building practical skills and creative thinking around AI solutions.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning over lectures. Boys work directly with AI tools, train their own models, and brainstorm real-world applications in a setting that celebrates their potential in technology.
