Soooooo, I issued a roll call for Black Canadian podcasters.

Including hosts, co-hosts, and producers: who are creating conversations that inform, entertain, challenge, and connect our communities, I want to know who you are.

Finding Black Canadian podcasters should not feel like detective work. Too often, our work is difficult to discover, under-credited, and overlooked by the wider industry. That is a problem because discoverability is the first step to opportunity.

This roll call is about making us findable. Not asking permission. Not waiting for someone else to build the list.

This matters cause

A podcast can build credibility, open doors, create community, and shape public conversations. But that impact is harder to recognize when the people behind the microphones are missing from industry conversations, media lists, studies, conferences, and partnerships.

This month’s focus on authority and thought leadership is personal for me. I’ve been podcasting for more than 10 years. I started in community radio in Montreal, and in 2016, the radio version of my podcast was broadcast across Quebec on the province’s largest talk radio station.

I know what it means to create without a clear path to visibility. That is why I’m helping build the directory I wish I had.

What You’re Being Put Forward For

Spotlight Sunday profiles individual Black Canadian podcast hosts and creators through the BlkPodNews newsletter.

The broader Northern Voices column highlights Black podcasters and media creators across Canada, helping audiences discover the shows and people shaping our conversations.

You do not need a fancy studio, a large following, or a perfect production setup. You might be recording from a closet or a kitchen table. You still count.
